Each year there are tournaments held nationally to bring together IBM Club members from around the country to enjoy their common interest. Mark Taylor recently took over as our National Tournaments coordinator, and has this message...
There are some exciting changes happening in the way that IBM Club National Tournaments will be run from 2014. The main driver for the changes is for National Tournaments to appeal to as many people as possible and really engage both current IBM employees and retirees. A number of key values for National Tournaments have been decided, these are - 'fun & social', 'promote teaming', 'promote diversity', 'cross geography' and 'open to all'.
What does this mean to you? Everyone is being invited to suggest what national tournaments should be run so if you have always wanted to organise your own version of 'IBM's Got Talent' or the 'Great IBM Bake Off' and you know people will want to take part, then now is your opportunity to do it. We are looking for all types of events, including, but certainly not limited to the core sporting tournaments that have commonly taken place.
Proposals need to include a basic plan to show how many people are predicted to attend, minimum number required to hold the event, the likely budget required (if you know that at this stage) and also crucially, information about how this tournament demonstrates some of the key values associated with National Tournaments. These proposals will then be reviewed by the National Tournaments Sub Committee before a final list of National Tournaments is put forward for approval.Any questions please don't hesitate to contact Mark.
